New Haven, CT – The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce presented the Mary Wade Home with the Leadership in Healthcare/Developer Investment Award at the Chamber's 2008 Awards Luncheon held at the Omni Hotel in New Haven.
In the Leadership in Healthcare category, Mary Wade was highly praised for its extensive nursing and residential care facilities, rehabilitation programs, long and short-term medical management, assisted living, Alzheimer's disease support programs, hospice care, respite care, adult day care, aging services, outpatient rehabilitation, and family support groups.
In terms of Developer Investment, Mary Wade was cited for becoming a neighborhood anchor through the acquisition and renovation of vacant and dilapidated homes through its wholly owned subsidiary, Mary Wade Holding, Inc. In addition, Mary Wade provides employee homeownership assistance via $5,000 forgivable loans for up to four employees per year, stimulating home ownership in the surrounding neighborhood. Mary Wade was also recognized for the $10.5 million expansion underway of the existing skilled nursing center, adult day center, and kitchen and hospitality areas, which represents a significant investment in New Haven. The expansion project will create new jobs and will significantly increase the number of older adults for whom Mary Wade can provide housing and care.
"We appreciate this recognition from the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and regional business community, and we are proud of Mary Wade's achievements in providing long term care services, preserving the surrounding residential neighborhood, and expanding our mission," said Mary Wade Home Chief Executive Officer David V. Hunter.
